Lab Outfitting

Hank in the CENPA inst shop suggested that we use the student shop for most of our special tool needs, rather than purchasing anything.

For the things we do want to purchase, Hank suggests the suppliers:
Nuts & Bolts - McMaster
Cutting tools - MSC
Power tools - grainger

I know that UW eProcurement supports Grainger, but not MSC or McMaster. Still, the UW has a contract with all these companies.

Tools we would like to have in the lab:

  • Power Drill / bits
  • Tool chest
    • Wrench set (met/imp)
    • socket wrenches (met/imp)
    • allen wrenches (met/imp)
    • hammer/mallet
    • pliers (straight, needle)
    • screwdrivers (ph,flat,big,small)
    • precision screwdrivers
    • box cutters
    • files/rasps
    • saw
    • tape (elec/duct/packing/masking/scotch)
  • Soldering station
    • Iron
    • solder
    • flux
    • Cu braid
    • joining wire segments
    • suck 'em solder remover
    • shrink wrap heat gun (we have a large one)
    • shrink wrappers
  • Desktop lamps
  • power cords and power strips
  • ethernet cables
  • nuts & bolts hardware
  • Coax cables? (we have one box (to be sent to PSI?))
